On one afternoon in June of 1935, Bill Wilson found himself alone in the Mayflower Hotel. He didn’t have the money to pay his bill. He didn’t know what to do or how things were going to work out. He paced the lobby floor. On one end of the lobby was the bar, doors open, the sound of laughter flowing out toward him. On the other end of the lobby was a church directory covered in glass. He was at his turning point - the turn that opened up to a path that has saved millions of lives since. Bill turned from the bar and went to the directory. He called and called until he found another alcoholic to work with.
Since then millions of us have had our own turning points. Thanks to Bill turning to Bob in his hour of desperation we have had a fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous to turn to.
